PART 3: THE MAFIA KING 𝘴ℓappєḋ HIS WIFE FOR HIS FIRST LOVE—THEN DISCOVERED WHAT SHE HAD THROWN AWAY!hl

PART 3 — THE KING WHO LOST EVERYTHING
The entire mansion fell silent.

Adrian Moretti stood in the middle of his marble hallway, staring at the small velvet box his wife had thrown into the fireplace.

Inside it was a wedding ring.

But not just any wedding ring.

It was the ring his father had given his mother before he died—the only family heirloom Adrian had ever trusted Elena to protect.

Beside it lay a folded letter, its edges already turning black from the flames.

“STOP!” Adrian shouted.

His men rushed forward, pulling the burning letter from the fireplace. But the damage was already done.

Elena stood by the front door, holding a suitcase.

Her cheek was still red from the slap he had given her minutes earlier.

Adrian looked at her, his voice suddenly unsteady.

“Why would you throw that away?”

Elena gave him a heartbreaking smile.

“Because I finally understood something, Adrian. I spent five years protecting a family that never protected me.”

His first love, Isabella, stepped forward.

“Adrian, she’s manipulating you. You know how jealous she’s always been.”

Elena slowly turned toward her.

“Jealous?”

She reached into her purse and pulled out a second envelope.

“No, Isabella. I was simply the only person in this house who knew the truth.”

Adrian frowned.

“What truth?”

Elena placed the envelope on the table.

“Your father didn’t die of a heart αttαᑕk.”

The room froze.

Adrian’s face turned pale.

“What did you just say?”

Elena opened the envelope and revealed copies of old medical reports, bank transfers, and a handwritten confession.

“Your father discovered that Isabella’s family had been secretly stealing from the Moretti empire. When he threatened to expose them, he was poisoned.”

Isabella stumbled backward.

“That’s a lie!”

Elena shook her head.

“Your father-in-law’s private doctor confessed everything three weeks ago. I kept the evidence because I wanted to give you the chance to discover the truth yourself.”

Adrian looked at Isabella.

“Tell me she’s lying.”

Isabella said nothing.

For the first time in years, the woman Adrian had loved before his marriage had no beautiful explanation.

His security chief suddenly entered the room.

“Boss, we checked the documents. They’re authentic. And there’s something else.”

He placed a pH๏τograph on the table.

It showed Isabella meeting with Adrian’s most dangerous rival just two nights earlier.

“She was planning to hand over the locations of your properties,” the security chief explained. “The plan was to take everything from you.”

Adrian stared at the pH๏τograph.

Then he looked at Elena.

“You knew?”

Elena nodded.

“I knew. And I still gave you a chance to choose me. But instead, you chose to humiliate me in front of everyone.”

Adrian took a step toward her.

“Elena, sweetheart… I didn’t know.”

She immediately stepped away.

“Don’t call me that.”

His eyes filled with regret.

“Please. Let me explain. I can fix this.”

“No, Adrian. You can buy another mansion. You can replace every car in that garage. You can rebuild your empire.”

She looked directly into his eyes.

“But you cannot undo the moment you raised your hand against the woman who stood beside you when you had nothing.”

Then she pulled a final document from her suitcase.

Divorce papers.

Already signed.

Adrian stared at the signature.

“You’re leaving me?”

Elena nodded.

“I’m not leaving because you loved another woman. I’m leaving because you made me feel worthless while I was trying to save your life.”

She walked toward the door.

Adrian, the most feared man in the city, dropped to his knees.

“Please, Elena. I’ve never begged anyone in my life.”

She paused without turning around.

“That’s the problem, Adrian. You thought being feared was the same as being loved.”

And then she left.

Six months later, the Moretti empire had survived, but Adrian was no longer the same man.

Isabella had been exposed and arrested for her role in the conspiracy. The evidence Elena preserved had brought down the people responsible for his father’s dєatᩚh.

Adrian had everything money could buy.

Except the woman who had saved him.

One rainy evening, he found Elena at a small bookstore in Manhattan.

She looked happier. Lighter. Her cheek no longer carried the memory of his cruelty.

He approached her slowly.

“I found the rest of your letter,” he whispered. “The one from the fireplace.”

Elena looked up.

“And?”

Adrian swallowed.

“It said you were pregnant when you wrote it.”

Silence.

“I was,” Elena replied softly. “But I lost the baby after the night you struck me. I never told you because I couldn’t bear to see you pretend to care.”

Adrian’s world collapsed.

He covered his mouth, tears falling freely.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

Elena closed her book.

“Because I needed you to understand that some things cannot be repaired with money, power, or apologies.”

He reached for her hand.

She gently pulled away.

“I hope one day you become a better man, Adrian. But I won’t be there to watch it happen.”

She walked out into the rain.

And for the first time in his life, the Mafia King understood what true powerlessness felt like.

He had once ruled an entire city.

But he couldn’t win back the heart of the woman who had loved him most.

THE END.
