Vini Jr and Haaland joins Mbappé and Kane into the QF of the Champions League

Manchester City and Real Madrid advance to the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Manchester City and Real Madrid are in the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Manchester City makes it look easy at the Etihad Stadium, while Real Madrid just makes it past a strong RB Leipzig team. Man City won 3-1 against Copenhagen, while Real Madrid drew 1-1 to Leipzig but advanced as they won 2-1 on aggregate.

Manchester City made it look easy from the start of the game. In the 5th minute, Man City had a corner, which led to the opener. Julian Alvarez sent the ball towards the near post, and Manuel Akanji took a right-footed volley that smashed into the top right corner. The finish was too fast for Copenhagen keeper Grabara to react. Just before the 10th-minute mark, Julian Alvarez gets his goal and the second goal contribution of the game. Rodri’s header from a corner hits the crossbar, and Alvarez pounces on the loose ball. The Argentinian from the left side controls the ball in the box and shoots at the near post. Grabara tries to catch the ball, but it slips off his hands and goes into the net.

In the 29th minute, Mohamed Elyounoussi scored for Copenhagen. The Norwegian makes a great run towards the box and plays a one-two with Oskarsson. The flick from Oskarsson goes back to Elyounoussi, and he slots the ball in the bottom right corner. Man City responded just before halftime as Erling Haaland made it 3-1. Rodri chips the ball to Haaland in the box. Haaland controlled the ball, cut inside with his left, sent the keeper the wrong way, and finished the ball to the bottom right corner. City were more relaxed in the second half, and the game ended 3-1. Man City won 6-2 on aggregate and are in the final 8.

Real Madrid suffered against RB Leipzig but advanced to the last 8

Real Madrid was unconvincing against RB Leipzig at home as they didn’t generate many clear chances. Madrid didn’t take a shot on target in the first half. Leipzig had many chances, but the attempts went wide. Real Madrid’s second shot on target was Vinicius’ goal in the second half.

In the 65th minute, Jude Bellingham sends a great pass to Vini, who sends the ball into the top left corner. Real Madrid conceded three minutes later as David Raum crossed a great ball in the Madrid box for Willi Orban. Orban’s header goes past Lunin to equalize, but it wasn’t enough to turn things around. After many chances by Leipzig, Madrid held on to the 1-1 draw. Real Madrid advances by winning 2-1 on aggregate.
