WHAT HAPPENED?

On the opening day of the Major League Baseball season, the 32-year-old got the chance to throw the ceremonial pitch at the game in Miami. Neymar, who appeared to thoroughly enjoy the opportunity, watched on as the Pirates went on to win the game 6-5 on Thursday night.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Neymar is on the comeback trail after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament while on international duty with Brazil last October. The forward, who swapped Paris Saint-Germain for Al-Hilal last summer, will not play again this season, so all his efforts are going towards being fit for the 2024/25 campaign.

WHAT NEXT?

Neymar’s Al-Hilal – who are top of the Saudi Pro League by a whopping 12 points to second-placed Al-Nassr – are next in action on Saturday evening away to Al-Shabab. They are going for a quadruple this season as they are in the AFC Champions League semi-finals, the same stage of the King Cup of Champions, and the last four of the Saudi Super Cup.
