Saudi Arabia has not forgotten about Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe: “Of course we like him”

With Kylian Mbappe in the final six months of his contract at PSG, rumours linking him to Real Madrid have been dominating the headlines again.

In fact, reports recently have gone as far as suggesting that the 25-year-old has agreed to sign for the Merengues at the end of the season on a free transfer, although there is no official announcement yet.

PSG have been trying to convince Mbappe to sign a new contract, while there have been links to Premier League giants Liverpool as well.

Saudi Arabia also in the mix?

In the midst of all this, Saudi Arabia has potentially thrown its hat in the ring as the Middle East nation continues to target top footballers from Europe to boost the country’s sporting profile.

Saudi already raided PSG for Neymar last summer, with the Brazilian superstar ending up at Al Hilal. And there had been links to Mbappe as well, but nothing came of it.

However, it seems that the oil-rich nation have not forgotten about the French superstar.

In a recent interview, Prince Abdullah Saad Abdulaziz Al Saud, a member of the Saudi royal family, revealed that Mbappe is a person of interest in the Middle East nation’s league.

“Of course we like him. Kylian Mbappe is a good player, he is strong and I hope to see him play in Saudi Arabia, in any team in our championship,” he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“Saudi Arabia is now the monster of the market. We have Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema. We have a strong championship and we will surprise again. More stars will come. Saudi Arabia plans to become the number 1 nation in football. Soon,” he added.

Any move for Mbappe is extremely unlikely this summer, however. The Frenchman is likely to sign for Real Madrid or end up renewing at PSG as things stand.
