Not Haaland nor De Bruyne, Guardiola’s choice on the best Premier League player

Pep Guardiola is extremely satisfied with this player’s season for Manchester City.

Manchester City continues to fight for the Premier League title as they remain second in the league with 62 points. Man City are one point below league leaders Liverpool and they will play the Reds this Sunday coming up. Pep Guardiola was satisfied with his team’s performance against Manchester United as the Citizens won 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola spoke about Man United’s performance against his team. Guardiola said, “They are a team built for the transitions, and they can kill you in them. That is why you have to not lose that. If we attack not in a good position, they can make good transitions and score a second goal and make it more difficult.”

Guardiola also said that his Manchester City team did not struggle when they were losing in the first half. Guardiola said, “We were not struggling; we were losing the game but not struggling. We had really good defensively and offensively. The first half was better than the second.”

Guardiola then talked about Phil Foden, who scored a brace against Man United. Guardiola was so happy with his performance and considered him the best player in the Premier League. Guardiola said, “He loves to play football, he lives for football, training, playing games. It’s his joy; his work ethic is unbelievable. What can I say? He’s the best player right now in the Premier League; for the amount of things he does, he’s unbelievable.”

Foden spoke after the game and said, “That’s my aim: turn up in big games. That’s what I want and I think this season I’m proving that by putting performances like that in. I’ll keep working hard… I understand what it means for the fans in the derby at the Etihad. It means everything.”
