Neymar shows off belly as footy star admits he’s overweight – but hits back at trolls

Neymar, who won’t play again until August at least as he recovers from serious injury, has admitted he is overweight but has blasted back at trolls

Neymar’s appearance with fellow Brazilian Romario left fans questioning his weight

Neymar gave a middle-finger salute to his “haters” as the injured star admitted he is overweight.

The Brazilian icon is currently sidelined with a serious knee injury sustained while on international duty and is not expected to return to action until next season. Amid his long layoff, the Al-Hilal forward has naturally packed on a bit of timber.

Fans have been quick to point out the 31-year-old’s chunkier frame after he was pictured at a party with fellow Brazilian legend Romario wearing an oversized black T-shirt. The image left many of his followers wondering if he has been enjoying his layoff a little bit too much.

However, Neymar has hit back at his detractors in an Instagram story, which also included footage of him in the gym. In one 10-second clip, the former Barcelona and PSG goal-getter blasts: “Okay, overweight, but fat? I don’t think so! Take it, haters! Give it up or run away!”

During his clip, he shows off his toned-looking belly before finishing with a middle-finger taunt.

Neymar was one of the stars who swapped Europe for the Middle East last summer as he signed on the dotted line for Al-Hilal. However, the Saudi Pro League wasn’t able to indulge in his talents for too long as he tore his ACL while playing for Brazil in October.

National team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar warned in December that Neymar had a long journey ahead of him before returning to action. He said: “It’s too early. There’s no point skipping steps to recover sooner and taking unnecessary risks. Our expectation is that he will be ready to return at the start of the 2024 season in Europe, which is August.”

With Neymar sidelined for so long, Al-Hilal have even unregistered him to allow them to sign new players, although he remains attached to the club.
