Neymar performs PSG transfer U-turn after naming four clubs he would sign for

Lionel Messi is on the way out of PSG this summer and could be followed by former Barcelona team-mate Neymar with the Brazilian consistently linked with a move to the Premier League

Neymar is looking to quit French giants Paris Saint-Germain this summer after shocking fan protests have led him to perform a U-turn over his future at the club.

The Brazilian forward has been consistently linked with an exit from the Parc des Princes practically since his record-breaking arrival from Barcelona. He has previously insisted he is happy at the club but now appears to have changed his mind.

Neymar has been on the end of severe criticism from the club’s supporters this term following their underwhelming season. Supporters have protested outside his home, whilst Lionel Messi has also been targeted.

According to Le Parisien, that has convinced Neymar to perform a U-turn over his future with the club and he is now eyeing a quick exit. A number of clubs have been linked with a swoop for him – Premier League sides Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle the most recent to have been credited with an interest.

Neymar admitted in the past that he would be tempted to play in the Premier League but only for a select few teams. Speaking during his time at Barcelona, he said: “The Premier League is a championship that amazes me.

“I like the playing style and the teams. And who knows? Someday, I would like to play [in] it, yes. I admire Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool —these are the teams that are always there fighting.”

Neymar and Lionel Messi could both leave PSG this summer

Neymar, 31, has made 29 appearances for PSG so far this season, scoring 18 goals and providing a further 17 assists. He has not made a league appearance since February after struggling with an ankle issue.

He has just two years remaining on his contract with PSG after penning fresh terms with the club in the summer of 2021. The French giants are thought to be keen to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

And he might not be the only member of PSG’s glittering squad to leave in the summer. Messi is already on the verge of quitting the club on a free transfer at the end of his contract.

Barcelona are attempting to take Messi back to the Camp Nou after sealing the LaLiga title against cross-city rivals Espanyol over the weekend. Messi and Neymar could potentially have just three matches remaining of their PSG careers.

The French side take on Auxerre, Strasbourg and Clermont over their final three fixtures and could be crowned as Ligue 1 champions once again during their next outing.

Neymar has claimed a league winners’ medal in every season but once since his record-breaking switch to the Parc des Princes back in 2017.
