Man Utd’s losing of Varane may be tough, but let’s focus on the journey ahead and support the team through thick and thin.

A source from Football Insider confirmed Raphael Varane’s possible departure after this season ends.
Man United once announced the successful recruitment of the French midfielder on a 4-year contract, from 2021 to 2025. In fact, this is only a 3-year contract, with the option to extend for another year.

Accordingly, Varane’s contract will only last until the end of the 2023/24 season. Therefore, other clubs have the right to freely negotiate and even sign a preliminary contract with Varane from this point on.

If the one-year extension clause is activated, the Red Devils will have to pay Varane a salary of £320,000 per week. This is what Man Utd owners do not want because this player no longer has an important position in coach Erik ten Hag’s squad.

According to The Athletic, Varane feels happy at Old Trafford despite being turned away by Man Utd. The French midfielder wants to stay with the Red Devils for a long time and regain his place in the first team.

However, this possibility is not high. The reason is that Lisandro Martinez is about to return. Not to mention, Harry Maguire also played stably this season.

Most recently, Football Insider further confirmed that Man Utd is preparing to let defender Varane leave when his contract expires in the summer of 2024.

Thus, the Red Devils accepted to lose Varane completely.
