Kylian Mbappe should ignore Real Madrid interest and join Chelsea instead, insists Florent Malouda – claiming his former club can ‘give him what he wants’ and build a team around him

Kylian Mbappe should trade PSG for Premier League Chelsea, according to a former Blues ace – despite Real Madrid’s pursuit of the France captain.

Mbappe, 24, is currently contracted to the Parisian side until the summer of 2024, and he could choose this summer to extend his spell with the Ligue 1 leaders a further year.

Real Madrid are also thought to be keenly interested in the striker, a 2018 World Cup winner and five-time winner of the French top-flight title.

But fellow Frenchman Florent Malouda – who was at Chelsea between 2007 and 2013 – wants Mbappe to strongly consider his former Premier League team as his next move – and that the west London side can build a team around the superstar.

As per reports via AS, the 42-year-old Malouda said: ‘I have been campaigning for Mbappe to join Chelsea for a long time! So far, I’ve failed, but I’ll keep trying.

‘Hopefully we’ll see him in the Premier League, because it’s the most competitive league in the world.

‘There aren’t many teams that can give him what he wants and there aren’t many teams that can build around him.

‘He’s a leader, captain of France, and he will look for a leadership role at his next club, which can create problems.’

Mbappe is unlikely to make a firm decision on his club future until the end of the current campaign.

Chelsea are currently in the process of rebuilding, spending over £600m since the arrival of Todd Boehly as owner last summer, although the club currently languish in 11th place in the Premier League.

Mbappe’s PSG currently lead Ligue 1, while reigning Champions League holders Real Madrid are fighting a battle to overcome a significant points gap behind Barcelona in LaLiga.

However, the white-kitted team from the Spanish capital have one foot in this season’s Champions League semi-finals after a 2-0 first leg win over the Blues.

PSG have their own objective to win the Champions League as soon as possible, although they were ejected from this year’s contest at the hands of Bayern Munich.
