Erling Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has clarified her client’s position regarding the possibility of leaving Manchester City if a team triggers the release clause in his contract.
The Brazilian lawyer rejected any suggestion that Haaland could leave Manchester City this summer if the £175 million release clause in his contract is activated.
Manchester City hopes to convince the 23-year-old player to sign a new contract in the coming months, allowing them to renegotiate the release clause. Pimenta confirmed that Haaland is fully committed to the Premier League champions.
When asked if Haaland could stay with Manchester City until the end of his career, Pimenta said in a statement: “I don’t know, but I believe that Erling Haaland’s project will continue over time, over the next few years.”
She added: “It will also depend on the trends in football. Anyway, there is one thing certain today… Erling Haaland feels at home at Manchester City. He is 1000 percent committed to City’s project and is already looking forward to the new season with the club.”
Pimenta caused a stir last year when she explained that Haaland’s potential value could no longer be measured in millions of pounds and that his commercial value had increased significantly.
Regarding this, she pointed out: “When I said that amount corresponds to value, I wasn’t talking about his transfer value. I was referring to the value of the player at this age, who has a lot of room for improvement.”
She continued: “When I said that, he hadn’t even achieved the treble yet. The player finished his season as the Premier League’s top scorer (last season) despite being injured for two months. He is a player with great potential.”
She went on: “What do I see when I make this assessment? I see all the financial considerations surrounding him. Although he is a serious player who works hard, is organized, and focused, and never wastes time, he has been at Manchester City for two years, and there has been no gossip about him.”
She concluded: “His profile represents significant value in the eyes of sponsors and clubs, as well as in terms of shirt sales and media appearances. Alongside ticket sales and TV broadcasting rights, he will earn over his career, and I am convinced that his revenues will exceed a billion.”
