Haaland was given a special ‘one-of-a-kind’ ring for breaking the record last season

Erling Haaland was recently awarded a special ring, marking the record debut season that this star achieved in the Man City shirt.

Haaland scored 52 goals in 53 matches for Man City last season after joining the Etihad from Dortmund. Not only that, he also won the “treble” with Man City by winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. Haaland’s scoring record also helped him win the Premier League top scorer award, the European Golden Shoe along with the titles of UEFA European Footballer of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year.

And yet, Man City and the Premier League both chose Haaland as the best player of the season, and the tournament also awarded him the best young player. Meanwhile, experts and his colleagues voted Haaland as PFA Player of the Year. Therefore, Haaland received a special ring. As one side will record the total number of goals he had last season, the championship trophy number on the other side will be Haaland’s name, nationality and familiar shirt number.

Coming to this season, Haaland is trying to maintain his scoring record. Currently, he has 8 goals in 8 appearances in the Premier League 2023/24. However, compared to last season, Haaland is currently more disappointing. During this period last season, Haaland had 14 goals in all competitions. It is also understandable why Haaland no longer scores regularly. That’s because Kevin de Bruyne is injured.

At this time, Man City is trying to convince Haaland to sign a new contract even though he still has 4 years of contract with the blue half of Manchester. The validity of the old contract is until Summer 2027. Haaland also shared what coach Pep Guardiola told him before the striker signed with Man City: “Pep told me ‘I don’t care what you do. Whatever you want, do whatever you want. But when I’m on the training field, you have to concentrate. Otherwise I’ll beat you to death’. It’s just a joke but that’s really Pep’s personality. And that’s why Man City has been so successful. Therein lies the pressure.”
