Haaland equals the record number of goals in a Premier League season with eight games to go!

The Norwegian has caught up with Mohamed Salah’s record of 32 goals in the 2017-2018 season

Erling Haaland’s first season at Manchester City continues to astonish as his two goals today against Leicester City have propelled the Norwegian to 32 Premier League goals this season.

He is currently level with Egypt’s Mohamed Salah as the record top goal scorers in a 20-team Premier League season.

Salah entered the history books in the 2017-2018 season with his 32-goal haul, yet Haaland still has eight Premier League games left to play to add to his tally and take the record.

The record for top scorer in a Premier League season is still held by two players, Andy Cole (Newcastle) in 1993-1994 and Alan Shearer (Blackburn) in 1994-1995.

However, at that time the Premier League had a total of 22 teams in the tournament, so there were 42 matchdays as opposed to the 38 of today.

After another great performance by the Norwegian, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola compared him to superstar striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
