Erling Haaland has one thing left to do to complete challenge set on first day at Man City

Manchester City’s talisman set out his three goals for his time at the Etihad and two have already been achieved.

When Erling Haaland joined Manchester City his move was declared the signing of the summer.

Having seen what he has gone on to accomplish, City may have pulled off the signing of the century. At the time of writing, the Norwegian has a sensational 42 goals to his name this season.

That figure is only likely to grow in the weeks ahead as Haaland once again hits a scary run of form for the Blues. In his first interview at the Etihad, the Norwegian set himself three targets for his time in Manchester.

Sensationally, he’s already achieved two of his three aims. He told City’s website back in June: “This is a proud day for me and my family.

“I have always watched City and have loved doing so in recent seasons. You can’t help but admire their style of play, it’s exciting and they create a lot of chances, which is perfect for a player like me.

“There are so many world-class players in this squad and Pep [Guardiola] is one of the greatest managers of all-time, so I believe I am in the right place to fulfil my ambitions. I want to score goals, win trophies and improve as a footballer and I am confident I can do that here.”

His first objective of scoring goals has probably just about been completed. ‘Improving as a footballer’ is subjective but when so many new signings at City have struggled to hit the heights in their maiden campaign at the club, it is hard to argue that the Norwegian hasn’t improved his game under Guardiola.

All that’s now missing are the trophies. City are still battling on three fronts this season with the FA Cup perhaps their best chance of grabbing silverware.
