Erling Haaland has broken down the diet that’s turned him into one of world football’s deadliest strikers.

The 22-year-old joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, taking the Premier League by storm.

Haaland’s scored 20 goals in 12 games for a City side who are still unbeaten in all competitions this season.

He’s not achieved this without sacrifice, however. The Norway international follows a strict eating plan, something he touched on in a documentary titled ‘Haaland: The Big Decision’.

An interviewer pulls out a number of meat products, including chunks of cow’s heart and liver, asking Haaland if this is what he eats to stay at the top of his game.

Haaland replies: “You (other people) don’t eat this, but I am concerned with taking care of my body.

“I think eating quality food that is as local as possible is the most important. Or the local cow eating grass right over there? I eat the heart and the liver.”

He goes on to explain the complex water filtration system he uses, while stressing how important it is to look out at the sun.

Haaland mentions a circadian rhythm, which is an internal process in the body that regulates the sleeping and waking up pattern.

The former RB Salzburg man continued: “The first thing I do in the morning is to get some sunlight in my eyes – it is good for circadian rhythm.

“I have also started to filtrate my water a bit. I think it can have great benefits for my body.”

Haaland’s favourite meal is a lasagne cooked by his father, Alf-Inge, and he can consume up to 6000 calories a day.

Manager Pep Guardiola joked he was ‘annoyed’ at the goals drying up after a string of three home Premier League hat-tricks in a row.

“I’m so upset with him he didn’t score three goals, that’s why the petition is to sack him for the Premier League,” he said.

“The expectation is so high people expect he’ll score three or four goals every game.

“In the end he was there to score it. He helped to keep the ball, fight. Erling played really good today too.”
