The incident unfolded Wednesday morning in Biscayne Bay, near Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, sending emergency crews rushing to the water as witnesses and rescuers faced a desperate situation.
Authorities identified the aircraft as a Robinson R44 helicopter, which went down while carrying three people. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Pendas was operating the helicopter at the time of the 𝔠r𝘢sh.
Pendas was the president of Global Aerials, the company registered as the aircraft’s owner. Investigators said the helicopter had been involved in photographing boats participating in the Poker Run speedboat event when the incident occurred.
The two surviving passengers were identified as 52-year-old Ryan McCoy and 27-year-old Ryan Ferraro, the owner of Boats Daily, a digital marketing agency specializing in the marine industry.
Both men were pulled from the water by responding marine rescue units and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were described as minor, and both have since been released.
However, the outcome was devastating for Pendas.
A GOOD SAMARITAN RUSHED INTO THE WATER TO HELP
