Abby and Brittany Hensel have lived in the public eye since childhood, yet the paperwork surrounding Abby’s 2021 marriage to Josh Bowling continues to generate questions long after the ceremony. The marriage certificate, reported through public records, lists Abby Hensel and Josh Bowling as the spouses, with the ceremony held on November 13, 2021, at the Jerome Event Center in Delano, Minnesota, officiated by Rev. Sid A. Veenstra. Their sister Morgan Hensel appears as a witness alongside another individual identified in reporting as Cosmo Naut, while Brittany Hensel’s name does not appear on the witness list despite her presence at the event and the inseparable nature of the sisters’ shared life.
Abby also changed her surname to Bowling on the document. These factual elements, drawn from the certificate as covered by outlets that obtained the records, have kept conversation alive because they highlight the practical and legal distinctions within a uniquely shared existence. Abby and Brittany are dicephalic parapagus conjoined twins who share a single lower body, bloodstream, and reproductive system while each controlling one side of their shared torso and limbs. Their parents declined separation surgery after medical advice indicated high risk to both, a decision the sisters have lived with into adulthood as teachers in Minnesota. The marriage itself stayed largely private until public records brought it to wider attention in 2024. Josh Bowling, a registered nurse and U.S. Army veteran, had previously been married and shares a daughter from that relationship.
The certificate’s specifics—particularly the absence of Brittany as a formal witness—have prompted ongoing online discussion about how legal documents navigate the twins’ shared physical reality and individual idenтιтies. Supporters of the couple note that the paperwork reflects standard legal requirements and Abby’s personal choice, while observers continue to examine every available detail for insight into how the sisters structure major life events. The twins have maintained a relatively low profile outside of occasional social media posts and their work as fifth-grade teachers, choosing not to extensively address every point of public curiosity.
Years later, the certificate remains a reference point in coverage of their lives precisely because it records concrete choices amid extraordinary circumstances, without resolving every question about the logistics of marriage, family, and daily coordination for two people who have always moved through the world together. Coverage of the document has repeatedly returned to the same verified facts: the date, location, officiant, witnesses listed, and the name change, all while the sisters themselves have not offered extended public commentary on the paperwork. This combination of confirmed record and limited additional statement has allowed the certificate to function as a quiet but persistent source of interest for those following the Hensel sisters’ path from early media appearances through adult professional and personal milestones.
