NYPD Offers $10,000 Reward as Investigation Continues into the Stabbing of Brooklyn Jogger Katie Suarez

New York City police have put forward a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the stabbing of a 28-year-old woman attacked while jogging in Brooklyn. The victim, Katie Suarez, was declared brain ᴅᴇᴀᴅ and remains on life support at NYU Langone Hospital after the violent ᴀssault.

Suarez, a bank teller originally from El Salvador, was running along the Shore Parkway Greenway in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn on the evening of Friday, October 30, 2026. She had finished her shift at a TD Bank location in the Caesar’s Bay Shopping Center, met her mother shortly afterward, changed into athletic clothes, and set out on a short run. Her plan was to meet both of her parents a short distance away once she finished.

Investigators say Suarez was speaking with her father on the phone in the minutes leading up to the αttαᑕk. She was stabbed twice in the neck — once on each side — near Bay 17th Street and Shore Parkway just after 8 p.m. When she did not arrive at the planned meeting point, her parents began searching for her. Her father was the one who found her at the scene.

Police have described the αttαᑕk as appearing random. There was no sign of robbery — Suarez still had her jewelry and pink cell phone with her when she was found — and investigators have determined there was no indication of a Sєxual ᴀssault. Detectives have said nothing so far suggests the attacker knew her or specifically targeted her that evening. The section of the pathway where the stabbing occurred did not have surveillance cameras at the time, which has made the investigation more difficult.

Over the weekend following the αttαᑕk, police conducted an extensive search of the area. Officers used K-9 units, scuba teams, and drones while looking for any possible evidence or clues. Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen Suarez jogging along the eastbound bike path of the Belt Parkway between roughly 7:56 p.m. and 8:12 p.m. on the night of the incident to come forward.

The $10,000 reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers, the NYPD program that provides cash payments for anonymous tips that help solve serious violent crimes. Electronic message boards have been placed around the Bath Beach neighborhood, and officers have distributed flyers near the scene seeking public ᴀssistance.

Suarez was known to be an active runner and was reportedly training for the New York City Marathon. Friends and family have left candles, flowers, and messages near the location of the αttαᑕk as they wait for answers.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS. Tipsters are allowed to remain anonymous.

The case remains open, and detectives continue to appeal for any witnesses or details that could help identify the person responsible for the ᴀssault.
