Gus Lamont Search Intensifies: Police Review Evidence, Witness Information and Specialist Forensic Findings After Months of Investigation!hl

Almost a year after four-year-old Gus Lamont disappeared from his family’s remote Oak Park Station property in South Australia, investigators are still searching for the evidence that could finally explain what happened to him.

The latest police update has brought no confirmed discovery of Gus, but it has revealed that investigators are continuing to examine fresh information, previously collected evidence and unusual features identified in aerial imagery.

Gus was reported missing on September 27, 2025, from Oak Park Station near Yunta. What began as a mᴀssive missing-child search was declared a major crime in February 2026 and developed into Task Force Horizon, one of South Australia Police’s most extensive missing-person investigations.

According to SA Police, investigators have conducted 11 separate ground searches covering 30 days, alongside extensive aerial operations involving Polair, drones and aircraft equipped with specialist cameras. Police say the broader search has covered hundreds of square kilometres.

Aerial images may now hold another clue
One of the most significant developments emerged in September when Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke revealed that investigators had completed a painstaking manual review of aerial imagery collected during the investigation.

The review was conducted in addition to earlier AI-ᴀssisted analysis.

Police identified what Fielke described as “anomalies” in the imagery. Investigators are now ᴀssessing those areas to determine whether they justify another physical search of Oak Park Station. Importantly, police have not publicly disclosed what the anomalies are or suggested that they represent Gus or evidence of a crime.

That distinction matters. After months of searches, an unusual feature visible from the air is not itself proof of a breakthrough. Its significance will depend on what investigators find when the information is reviewed against the wider evidence.

Forensic examinations have not produced a breakthrough
Earlier in the investigation, detectives seized a vehicle, motorcycle and electronic devices during searches of the Oak Park homestead.

SA Police later confirmed that specialist forensic examinations had been completed.

The results, however, did not produce a new line of inquiry or advance the investigation. Police also stressed that the forensic work had not eliminated anyone from consideration.

That leaves investigators working with a difficult equation: enormous amounts of evidence have been collected, but no single piece has yet provided the answer needed to locate Gus or establish conclusively what happened to him.

Police increasingly reject the idea that Gus simply wandered away
Police have repeatedly said they have found no evidence supporting the theory that Gus simply wandered away from the property.

SA Police also says there is no evidence supporting an abduction by an unknown person.

Instead, investigators have publicly stated that their focus remains on the possibility that someone known to Gus was involved in his disappearance and suspected dєatᩚh. Police have identified a person within Gus’s family circle as a suspect, while repeatedly making clear that his parents, Jessica Murray and Joshua Lamont, are not suspects. No conviction has resulted from that suspicion.

This is one of the most important facts in the case: police have narrowed their investigative focus, but the public still does not have a definitive account of how Gus disappeared or where he is.

A $1 million reward brings a new wave of information
On September 23, South Australia announced a reward of up to A$1 million for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for Gus’s disappearance and/or the recovery of his remains.

The response was immediate.

SA Police reported that, in the first day after the announcement, Crime Stoppers received 34 calls and two emails. Nine additional calls had already been received during the week as media coverage increased ahead of the anniversary of Gus’s disappearance. Investigators said every report would be ᴀssessed and investigated where appropriate.

That surge could become significant if even one caller possesses previously unknown information. But police have also warned that speculation and conspiracy theories can overwhelm an investigation.

Fielke specifically urged the public to provide information rather than theories, saying investigators need material that can move the case forward rather than unverified claims circulating online.

Gus’s parents make an emotional public appeal
For the first time, Gus’s parents appeared publicly in a recorded appeal.

They described the disappearance as devastating and urged anyone who knows anything — even something that may appear insignificant — to contact police.

Josh Lamont said the family believes someone knows what happened to Gus and may know where he is.

Their appeal comes after Gus missed his fifth birthday and other family milestones while the investigation continued without an answer.

Nearly one year after his disappearance, the central question remains brutally simple: where is Gus Lamont?

Police have searched dams, waterways, wells, mine shafts, buildings and vast areas of surrounding terrain. They have reviewed aerial imagery using both artificial intelligence and painstaking manual examination, conducted forensic testing and ᴀssessed hundreds of public reports.

Yet Gus has not been found.

Now, investigators are revisiting aerial anomalies and newly received information while the A$1 million reward creates another opportunity for someone with ᑕriᩚtiᩚcal knowledge to come forward.

For Task Force Horizon, the challenge is no longer simply searching more ground. It is identifying the piece of evidence — or the person with the missing information — capable of connecting the unanswered parts of the case.

Anyone with information about Gus Lamont’s disappearance can contact South Australia Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Anonymous reports are accepted.
