Efforts to save dєatᩚh row inmate Christa Pike were delayed due to a lack of information between emergency responders and Tennessee state prison officials following the failed exє𝔠uti☉n.

Audio recordings from the 911 dispatch center, obtained by the Associated Press earlier this week, reveal that precious minutes were wasted while officials and rescue workers struggled to verify the authenticity of the emergency medical assistance request originating from the exє𝔠uti☉n chamber.
The first 911 call was made at 8:40 p.m. on September 30, just over an hour after the lєthaℓ inje𝔠ti☉n process began.
The caller informed the operator that they were at Riverbend Maximum Security Detention Center, where a female dєatᩚh row inmate had just been executed but was still alive. However, the caller was unable to provide the verification code to authenticate the call.
“According to information from supervisors at DEC (Department of Emergency Information), we have been informed that this was a false alarm. There was no request for medical assistance at Riverbend prison,” a dispatcher said at 9:03 p.m.

While rescuers were working to verify the call, they contacted a representative from the prison’s Central Operations Room. According to the 9:07 p.m. recording, the prison authorities stated that they “should have been the ones to report the incident” and “did not make the call.”
At the same time, via the radio system, a rapid response officer reported: “Someone claiming to be a state official is outside the prison gate, confirming the incident is real and asking us to come inside.”
A few minutes later, the Central Operations Room confirmed the authenticity of the call, allowing rescue forces to pass through the gate at approximately 9:11 PM (more than half an hour after the initial call).
At 9:34 p.m., as medical personnel were transporting Ms. Pike to the hospital, an emergency responder requested that the switchboard ensure the prison authorities were aware of the patient’s destination.
“There has been so much chaos, I want to make sure they understand this,” the paramedic emphasized.
Neither the Tennessee Department of Corrections nor Ms. Pike’s legal team has commented on the matter yet.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has ordered a temporary halt to further executions pending review. It remains unclear whether the state will proceed with the exє𝔠uti☉n of Ms. Pike.
Medical experts have put forward several theories to explain why Mrs. Pike survived, including potential problems with the quality of the poison and a faulty intravenous (IV) line setup that caused the drug to accumulate in her body tissues.
Prior to the exє𝔠uti☉n, Pike’s legal team warned the court and prison officials that the female dєatᩚh row inmate suffered from a blood clotting disorder, which could cause blood clots at inje𝔠ti☉n sites.
