OHIO “HOUSE OF HORR0RS” CASE TAKES A HEARTBREAKING TURN — ALL FOUR ADULTS HAVE NOW BEEN ARRESTED, LEAVING ONE PAINFUL QUESTION: WHO WILL CARE FOR THE 16 CHILDREN?
A former FBI special agent says neighbors were already watching the Ohio house where 16 kids were found living in filthy conditions weeks before anyone realized the kids were there.

Gary Siders Jr., 36, was charged with four counts of public indecency over a nine-day span in the weeks before he, his wife, Elizabeth Siders, and his parents, Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders, were arrested and charged with 16 counts of child endangerment.

Investigators say all four exposure incidents happened at the same house where the kids were later discovered, according to court records obtained by People.

“Remember, these charges actually stem from situations that occurred at that house,” former FBI special agent Jennifer Coffindaffer said. “So, you had neighbors that were watching, you had neighbors that likely turned him in for this indecent exposure. But they never saw the children.”

Investigators found 16 kids, ages 17 months to 18 years, packed into a 12-by-12 room piled with garbage and feces. Two kids were life-flighted to the hospital and seven others were hospitalized. None of the kids were enrolled in school.

Coffindaffer told NewsNation PRIME the exposure charges should have been a warning sign. “It definitely stands out as a red flag, because it’s very unusual for an individual to be outside of their home exposing themselves,” she said.

What warning signs came before the Siders kids were found?
She also spoke about an earlier missed opportunity. Gary and Elizabeth Siders were charged with truancy in October 2021 after six of their kids hadn’t showed up for a single day of school, five minutes from where they lived at the time. According to Coffindaffer, the case was dropped when the parents stopped responding.

“That’s just unacceptable,” she said. “You need to have home visits. You need to have CPS and authorities go visit the home.”

Coffindaffer said Child Protective Services should be a federal system so cases like this one can be tracked across jurisdictions. She also said investigators should now prioritize a full medical evaluation of the kids to determine whether they suffered 𝘢bu𝘴e beyond neglect.

A gag order is currently in place and a motion to release Elizabeth Siders from custody is still pending.

Coffindaffer said additional charges against the adults involved are all possible as the investigation continues.
