According to the Montgomery Police Department, officers responded to the scene shortly after 2:20 a.m. Emergency crews transported Caylee Taylor to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Court documents allege that Malik Demetrius Millender fired multiple rounds into the occupied home and was arrested less than a day after the shooting. He is currently being held without bond.

Investigators said Caylee Taylor was a student at Morningview Elementary School, and her death has deeply affected the Montgomery community.
During a recent Montgomery City Council meeting, leaders observed a moment of silence in her memory while calling for stronger efforts to reduce violence and protect children.
Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed described the case as heartbreaking and urged the community to continue working together to prevent violence.
