Wolves’ new signing shares what he keeps saying to Man City’s Erling Haaland ahead of this season

Jorgen Strand Larsen has revealed what he keeps telling Erling Haaland after having signed for Wolves on loan.

The 24-year-old is Haaland’s teammate in the Norwegian national team.

Strand Larsen has signed for Wolves on a season-long loan from Celta Vigo, with The Athletic reporting that the initial loan fee is £2.5 million with a €27 million (£22.7 million) option-to-buy.

The Halden-born striker scored 13 La Liga goals for Vigo last season, starting 36 league games for the fifth-place side during the 2023/2024 campaign.

Haaland would presumably be happy to see another Norwegian playing in the Premier League.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has “joked” with Erling Haaland about outscoring him in the Premier League
Currently, apart from Manchester City’s number nine, the active Norwegian players in the English top-flight are his club teammate Oscar Bobb, Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard and Brentford’s Kristoff Ajer.

Ahead of joining Wolves on loan, it is no surprise that the pair had chats with each other.

The treble-winner has spent two full seasons at the Etihad Stadium and as a result, he would have plenty of tips to hand to his countryman about life in England — both on and off the pitch.

Speaking to Radio MARCA, Strand Larsen revealed that he has been joking with Haaland about whether he could outscore him in the Premier League during the 2024/2025 campaign.

“I have already joked a lot with Haaland. I have said to him, let’s see if I can score more goals. We are very good friends and I am looking forward to facing him.”

Erling Haaland would easily outscore Jorgen Strand Larsen

Unless Haaland suffers a major injury, it would be next to impossible for him to be outscored by Strand Larsen.

It goes without saying that as Wolves’ new signing stated, he was only having a laugh with his Norwegian teammate.

But looking into the statistics, Strand Larsen’s highest-goalscoring season emerged during the 2021/2022 campaign where he scored 14 goals for Groningen in the Eredivisie.

Haaland’s is a record-breaking tally of 36 goals in the Premier League during the 2022/2023 season which goes to show the gulf in class between him and some of his country’s best strikers.
