Todibo: ‘I’m still waiting for Manchester United.’

Manchester United are looking for a centre-back to bolster their defense in January. Their top target is Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

Nice’s club is owned by the INEOS group of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the future boss of the Red Devils. That could prompt a deal if the takeover is approved soon.

When asked by L’Equipe about his failed move to Manchester United last summer, Todibo said:

“I told myself maybe I should play at a ‘top club’ to increase my chances of playing for France. But there are also positional guarantees in playing at Nice.

I experienced it differently from previous situations in my career. My thoughts are much deeper and more mature. I don’t want to make a mistake in my choice. I’m still very calm. I am waiting to present the complete project.

What do I expect? Why did I go there? You should not go to such a club. I know what I have in Nice. Why go to a place you don’t know? So everything must be clear.”
