The Brazilian national team looks set to head into the Copa America 2024 without their star player, Neymar Jr. The Brazilian star suffered an ACL injury in October while playing for Brazil in the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay. His injury has kept him out for the rest of the season with Al Hilal and for the international tournament, but now the Brazilian national team has lost another star player: Ederson Moraes. The Manchester City goalkeeper received a big blow on his eye socket in the Spurs vs Man City match last week. The Brazilian was subbed off from the pitch by Pep Guardiola, and Man City confirmed that his season for the team was over. Now, Brazil has made some changes in its pre-list for Copa America, which is a few weeks away.

The Brazil national team announced that Ederson Moares was replaced by Rafael from Sao Paulo on the list for the Copa America, with the addition of three players: Bremer from Juventus, Éderson from Atalanta, and Pepê from FC Porto. Brazil announced their full list of players for the Copa America ten days ago, with key players like Vinicius Jr., Alisson Becker, Rodrygo, Gabriel Magalhaes, and more to try and win the Copa America again since 2019.

The positive side for Ederson Moraes is that he won his sixth Premier League title with Manchester City. Ederson, along with Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, and Kyle Walker, have won the Premier League for the sixth time. Ederson has now won more Premier League titles than any other goalkeeper in the competition’s history, overtaking Peter Schmeichel according to Squawka, and the most Premier League titles won by a South American, overtaking Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho.

Brazil’s matches in the 2024 Copa America

With Neymar and Ederson missing, Brazil will look to try and win another Copa America in its history this summer, and the country wants to win their 10th one. Brazil are in Group D, where they will take on Colombia, Paraguay, and Costa Rica in the group stage. Brazil’s first match will be against Costa Rica on June 24th at SoFi Stadium. Their second match will be against Paraguay on June 28th at the Allegiant Stadium. The final group stage game will be played against Colombia on July 2nd at Levi’s Stadium.
