PSG’s medical tét raise doubts on Neymar’s match fitness on return from ankle injury

Having made his return to Paris Saint-Germain training this week after a four-month recovery from reconstructive ankle surgery, Neymar was one of several players to undergo medical exams and take their first steps at the club’s new state-of-the-art training centre.

The rest of the team will be back in action next Monday, with the squad’s internationals returning for what will be Luis Enrique’s first full training session since his unveiling as the club’s new manager last week.

However, Neymar may have to wait a bit longer before returning to action under the coach with whom he won the treble at Barcelona. According to L’Équipe, the tests that the 31-year-old underwent on Monday raised doubts about a potential swift return to match fitness – the full extent of his recovery will likely be made clear in this afternoon’s first training session at the the new centre in Poissy.

The Ligue 1 champions kick off their pre-season friendlies in ten days when they host newly-promoted Le Havre at the new training ground, before flying out for a tour of Japan the following day.

Neymar will be hoping to continue the impressive form he showed in the first half of last season, with his recurring ankle issues hopefully behind him, as he begins his seventh season in the French capital.
