PSG prepares for a transfer whirlwind as rumors of Kylian Mbappe’s departure swirl. Big moves on the horizon.

Paris Saint Germain just about scrapped their way into the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. It seems their subpar performances have opened the eyes of Luis Enrique and the management to strengthen the overall squad. As per the latest reports, the Parisian club will be quite busy in the upcoming transfer window. New names will likely be joining Kylian Mbappe & Co, this time directly from the Brazilian Serie A. Could this also pave the way for some surprising exits?

Luis Enrique’s side sits first in Ligue 1 and will face off against Real Sociedad in the Champions League next. Considering that Kylian Mbappe is likely to leave next summer, the upper management seems to be determined to provide him with the best platform to win the trophy that has eluded him so far.

As per L’Equipe, the French champions are interested in signing a defender and a midfielder. Their preferred targets for these positions are the Brazilian duo of Lucas Beraldo and Gabriel Moscardo. The management believes these players are able replacements for Presnel Kimpembe (ACL injury) and Fabian Ruiz (shoulder injury). Moscardo has been labeled as a complete midfield player and is comfortable playing either as a defensive or central midfielder. He is not a big goal threat but is safe in possession, has an impressive pass completion rate of 84%, and ranks in the 94th percentile for successful take-ons.

On the other hand, Lucas Beraldo is a solid center-back with an impressive passing range. Standing at 6’1, Beraldo has mastered the art of long passing but is also comfortable carrying the ball if required. Together, the duo will add significantly to PSG’s buildup play. Also, per L’Equipe, Hugo Ekitike & Layvin Kurzawa are likely to leave the club in January. The duo has just 2 combined appearances in the league this season. However, they might not be the only players to depart from the Parisian club.
