A cat, named Eliseu, that suffered abuse was found in terrible conditions in an alley on April 16th by a resident of the city of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, Brazil.
The feline was dehydrated, malnourished, and suffering from a widespread infection.
After being rescued, he was taken to the non-governmental organization called Viva Bicho, where he began to receive all the necessary care and became a symbol of perseverance and hope.
According to Marilucy Pereira, president of Viva Bicho, the cat showed no response and appeared to be in a coma. In an interview with the newspaper, she stated that there was no hope of saving him.
“They warmed the saline solution because he had no muscle mass. Nothing seemed to stick to his body. He was practically a skeleton,” she said, reporting that the kitten, named Eliseu, received oxygen and thermal blankets after a few days of treatment.
