Real Madrid is arguably the biggest club in the world because of its success throughout football history. They have just presented Kylian Mbappé as their new player, and he is one of the best footballers in the world. The club is run well thanks to the club president, Florentino Perez. Real Madrid has signed major names throughout the past two decades that have impressed many football fans. Mbappé is arguably now one of the club’s best signings because of his ability and because of signing him as a free agent.

Perez was the club president of Real Madrid from 2000 to 2006 and then began this second spell in the summer of 2009, and his tenure may end next summer. Cristiano Ronaldo joined the club in the summer of 2009 from Manchester United for a transfer fee of more than $96 million.

The most expensive signing Real Madrid has done under Florentino Perez was Eden Hazard in 2019 for more than $120 million. Jude Bellingham was the second most expensive signing the club has made under Perez, who was sold for $103 million by Borussia Dortmund last summer.

In the summer of 2013, Perez guided Real Madrid to sign Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur. Los Blancos purchased him for over $101 million. Another big name that recently arrived at the club for a big transfer fee is the French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who arrived in the summer of 2022 from AS Monaco for more than $80 million.

Perez also signed a club legend, Zinedine Zidane, in 2001 from Juventus for a fee of over $77 million, which was a record at the time. A trait that all of these players have is that they are below the age of 30, and Perez believed in signing world-class players that will help improve the team for the next couple of years.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has always given a master class when it comes to bringing in players. Many years ago he was the head behind the Galactico era. The president was able to bring in stars like Ronaldo Nazario, David Beckham, Roberto Carlos, Sergio Ramos and maybe the most controversial one, Luis Figo. He built this team in order to win many Champions League titles, but unfortunately they didn’t succeed and the cabinet was empty. Florentino left the team, but later comeback.

In his second spell Florentino made some big signings too. Apart from Cristiano Ronaldo, the most important one, he was able to bring players like Luka Modric, Karim Benzema, Kaka, Gareth Bale. Now Kylian Mbappé is part of that prestigious list. Fans are excited to see him in the white shirt at the Santiago Bernabéu and the expect to win everything with him. Their main objectives for this season are La Liga, Copa del Rey and of course back to back UEFA Champions League.

Perez on signing Kylian Mbappé

Florentino Perez was very happy to sign Mbappé, especially as a free agent. Perez spoke to Mbappé and said, “You fell in love with Real Madrid when you were a little kid. I want you to know, Kylian, that this love you have for this club gave you the strength to overcome all the obstacles. Kylian, you made an effort so big that people wouldn’t even believe in it order to come here. You’re here because you never gave up on your dream.”
