The 25-year-old is poised to become the highest paid player in Real Madrid history and his earnings are likely to be further boosted by a new tax law that will come into place in Madrid.

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, the ‘Mbappe law’ will come into effect before the Frenchman’s anticipated move this summer.

It will mark the second piece of tax legislation named after a Real Madrid player after the ‘Beckham law’ which sees foreign nationals pay less tax.

The Spanish government is likely to approve the law which will soon be put up for vote. It will see investing foreign nationals pay up to 20 per cent less tax on their earnings in the Madrid region.
