In a candid interview this week, Solskjaer revealed he was “disappointed” when two players refused to wear the armband.

He refused to name names, however.

According to a source, “Paul Pogba was offered it but declined because he wanted to leave the club.”

“Rashford was also asked to take the captaincy, but he said he didn’t think he was ready for it.”

In December 018, Solskjaer took over as caretaker at Old Trafford before being awarded the role on a permanent basis in March 019.

Antonio Valencia was the captain at the time.

When the Ecuadorian left the club at the end of the 2018-19 season, England full-back Ashley Young took over as captain.

Young, however, left six months later to join Inter Milan, and Solskjaer replaced him with Harry Maguire as captain.
