Man City’s Ederson sends three-word message to Phil Foden after he wins PFA Players’ Player of the Year award

At 24 years of age, Phil Foden has had an enviable career so far.

Foden is one of the best players at his boyhood club, Manchester City, who are widely considered one of the best teams in the world.

The £225,000-a-week man has won every possible trophy at club level and judging by his trajectory of winning silverware, he could go down as one of the most decorated players in the history of the game.

The Englishman has also had the chance to develop under Pep Guardiola since he was a teenager; an opportunity that millions of young players across world football would have dreamt of having.

The Stockport-born midfielder is also a starter for England — despite his nation having a plethora of incredible attackers at their disposal.

On Tuesday, the Manchester City technician won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award — an accolade that is voted by his fellow players in the Premier League — highlighting how highly-respected he is by his peers.

Rodri claimed Foden deserved the prestigious award, noting how he shouldered the burden of City’s Premier League title hopes on his back last season.

Andres Iniesta congratulated Foden on winning the accolade as well.

Arsenal and England midfielder Declan Rice felt Foden “fully deserved” the award as well.

However, several other players have sent their praises the five-time Premier League winner’s way after he took home the revered award.

One of them was Ederson Moraes, who commented on Foden’s Instagram post where he celebrated winning the award, writing: “What a player”, followed by a series of emojis.

John Stones also commented, “What a player” while Joao Cancelo simply wrote: “Starboy.”

Phil Foden should target winning the award again

While Foden’s primary goals should be to helping Manchester City win as many trophies as possible and improving as a player even more, he should also target winning the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award once again.

Only the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo have won the award in successive seasons and the City academy graduate would certainly be over the moon to be in such esteemed company.

It will be easier said than done for Foden to do so.

However, with the form that the versatile attacker was last season coupled with the incredible team he is in as well as the world-class manager he is playing under, it is far from impossible.

Whether Foden will be in the running to win the award again will be an interesting development to follow.
