Man City vs. Crystal Palace football commentary: Breaking the crystal

Man City stopped a four-match winless streak in the Premier League with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Luton Town. After that, they continued to play Red Star Belgrade before returning to Etihad’s home field to welcome Crystal Palace. Although not in good form recently, Man City has only lost 3 matches so far and all came away from home. At Etihad, they are on a streak of 17 consecutive unbeaten matches.

Coach Pep Guardiola and his team can believe that that achievement will continue when the only opponent is Crystal Palace. Roy Hodgson’s team is in very bad form. They have lost 4 and drawn 1 in the last 5 matches in the Premier League and are currently ranked 15th on the rankings.

Broadly speaking, Palace has only one victory against Burnley in the last 9 rounds. With their current form, they have no chance at Etihad.

If Man City temporarily reassures fans, Crystal Palace is still going downhill. In the last 5 rounds, they did not win any and had to receive 4 defeats. It is worth mentioning that 3/4 of the above matches were Crystal Palace matches played in front of the home crowd.

Interestingly enough, in terms of away performance, Crystal Palace is better because they have collected 7 points in the last 5 trips away from home. However, that is not enough for Crystal Palace to be confident when visiting Man City’s stronghold.

The reason is because Man City is not only superior in class, but they are also superior to Crystal Palace in their head-to-head record. In 53 previous encounters with Crystal Palace, Man City won 29 and lost only 12 matches.
