Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna says Man City have a ‘unique’ player who is unlike anyone else in football

Manchester City will be facing off against Ipswich Town for their second Premier League match of the season.

After beating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge last weekend, the Citizens will be welcoming newly-promoted Ipswich Town to the Etihad Stadium for their first home clash of the new campaign.

In their first game, the Tractors lost 2-0 to Liverpool but were able to keep a clean sheet until the 60th minute.

Ahead of their next game, the Ipswich boss has shared his thoughts on one particular City player he’ll be hoping to see have a low-key performance on Saturday afternoon.

Kieran McKenna makes Erling Haaland claim ahead of Man City vs Ipswich

Speaking in his recent press conference ahead of Saturday’s match against City, Kieran McKenna had this to say when asked about Erling Haaland.

He said: “He is pretty unique in world football; in terms of his physical attributes and his strength, pace and power – there’s probably not anyone in the modern game that comes close in these aspects.”

Haaland could be a danger for Ipswich

Having scored 27 goals in 31 Premier League games last season, the two-time Golden Boot winner bagged his first goal of the new campaign in last weekend’s victory at Stamford Bridge.

Despite missing seven league games in total last term, the Norwegian still managed to rack up more shots at goal (113) and shots on target (50) than any other player in the league.

This highlights how much of a danger the 24-year-old is likely to be for Ipswich’s defence and goalkeeper on Saturday.

In fact, Perry Groves recently likened Haaland’s goalscoring ability to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Moving forward, now that McKenna has highlighted how unique Haaland is in terms of what he offers on the pitch, the Ipswich boss will have to make sure his players can contain the City striker as much as they can on Saturday.
