‘If we could have taken €10 billion, we would have!’ – Kylian Mbappe’s mother and agent reveals she has ‘no guilt’ over her son’s salary as rumours swirl over his future

Kylian Mbappe’s mother and agent has said that the striker would have accepted a €10 billion salary from Paris Saint-Germain had it been on offer.

  • Mbappe accepted huge salary from PSG
  • Mother admits she went for the maximum
  • Forward can make free transfer in summer

WHAT HAPPENED?

Mbappe became one of the highest-paid athletes when he agreed to snub an offer from Real Madrid and accept a salary worth a reported €72 million (£62m/$79m) to extend his contract at PSG in 2022. The 25-year-old’s representative, Fayza Lamari, defended their demands for the highest possible salary from the French giants.

WHAT FAYZA LAMARI SAID

Speaking to Envoye Special, she said: “There is no guilt, no shame. If we could have taken €10 billion (£9bn/$11bn), we would have taken it because it’s the system that demands it.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 25-year-old’s future is once again the subject of speculation. After refusing to trigger the option to extend his contract at PSG to 2025, the forward can leave the club in a free transfer at the end of the season. Real Madrid are still eager to sign him and Mbappe’s camp had to put out a statement denying reports that he has already reached an agreement to join the Spanish club. Meanwhile, Liverpool are also interested in signing him and PSG hope to convince him to stay.

WHAT NEXT FOR MBAPPE?

Mbappe is free to negotiate with other clubs over a free transfer in the summer and will be fielding offers from the likes of Madrid and Liverpool. The attacker insists he has not made a decision regarding his next move and it has been reported that he has agreed to make PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi the first person to be informed when he makes his mind up.
