How Man City fans reacted to brand new Champions League draw

Manchester City recently found out who they will be facing in this season’s Champions League.

After winning their first-ever Champions League title back in the 2022/23 season where they won the Treble, City were knocked out by Real Madrid in the quarter-final stage last term.

Following the previous tournament, the format for this upcoming tournament has changed, as has the draw for the fixtures.

In the new-look format, Pep Guardiola’s side were ultimately drawing against the following sides:

♦ Club Bruges (home)

♦ Juventus (away)

♦ Feyenoord (home)

♦ Sporting Lisbon (away)

♦ Sparta Prague (home)

♦ Slovan Bratislava (away)

Once this draw was announced and communicated on social media, numerous City supporters didn’t need any encouragement in terms of sharing their reactions.

One fan wrote this on X sharing how they think City should approach these games: “No fear from us at this point. We’ve been there and done that in the @ChampionsLeague.. utmost faith in our boys in blue to take care of business regardless of format, opponents, etc..”

Another said this: “This would be interesting.”

This City fan couldn’t hide their reaction at the list of European sides his team will be facing over the coming months, saying: “Wow that’s good.”

Another support had a different view about the quality of the sides City were drawn against this year, saying: “None of these clubs here are good.”

In terms of the new Champions League format, this supporter said this on the matter: “Interesting. Nice range of teams. Playing 8 teams once is so much more entertaining than 3 teams twice. Can’t wait CTID.”

City will be one of the favourites to win the Champions League

Having won a fourth consecutive Premier League trophy last season, becoming the first side to ever do so, it’d be safe to assume that City will be seen as one of the favourites to win the Champions League this term.

Now that this handful of supporters have shared their reactions, most of which have been fairly positive in terms of who the Citizens will be facing in Europe over the coming months, the focus will soon turn to matters on the pitch when Guardiola’s side start their journey to another European final.
