Future of the Super League is uncertain, top teams and leagues say goodbye

Despite having free rein, this new competition lost shape in a matter of hours.

The European Court of Justice surprised the world of football by confirming the ruling in favor of the clubs that intended to organize the famous Super League and without a doubt, it was a blow in the face for FIFA and UEFA. Once the ruling was confirmed for the presidents of the clubs to organize said tournament, the first to celebrate was Florentino Pérez, leader of Real Madrid and one of the promoters of the continental tournament, but when the other European football clubs were expected to attend the called, everything began to turn gray after refusal from the top institutions.

Although A 22 Sports, one of the organizers of the European Super League, announced the game format with 64 participating teams, dates and even free television, clubs such as Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Atlético de Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Atalanta, Inter, Roma, PSG, Monaco, among others, have said that they will not participate in said tournament.

They all follow the same line and say they abide by the rules that UEFA has, which is why they ended up leaving said tournament. In fact, there are very few clubs that have joined the proposal and those that have confirmed interest are Real Madrid, Barcelona and Napoli, those that are still standing, but in reality with so little support, the tournament seems impossible to take place.

Likewise, many competitions such as the Premier League, Bundesliga, LaLiga and Ligue 1, issued their statement rejecting the competition not endorsed by FIFA and UEFA, which would be the weight for this tournament not to take place, as it would end up forcing the clubs not to participate. or in the worst case scenario, be sanctioned.

The story continues

Continuing along the same lines, the British Government has discussed that they hope to approve a rule to prohibit English clubs from competitions outside UEFA or FIFA and will prevent teams from deciding to play matches outside of the endorsed entities in the future. For now, the future of the Super League seems to have only lasted a few hours and although it caused great expectations, the proposed game system, plus the few teams that support it, would not provide guarantees to continue with this controversial tournament that seeks to revolutionize world football.
