Exciting times at PSG! Dembele expresses his joy about teaming up with Mbappe.

After an uninspiring start to the season, Ousmane Dembélé is back to his best. Last Friday, in a whirlwind match against Monaco, the French international got his name on the scoresheet for PSG for the first time this season and put in a quite flawless performance from the wing, one which caused his coach, Luis Enrique, to label the 26-year-old wide man as “the most difficult player in the world to defend against”.

The former Barcelona player gave an interview on French media station Telefoot in which he reviewed various current issues surrounding the club, including Tuesday’s Group F Champions League game against Newcastle, one in which PSG are required to win to keep their hopes alive in Europe.

“The most important thing, as I always say, is to play good games”, Dembélé commented before adding, “that’s my goal, even if I don’t score”.

“I’m happy with my performances for PSG in recent weeks,” he continued, “I try to contribute and generate a lot of chances, and even if I can’t score a goal, give a decisive pass or an assist.”

The French winger had come under fire in the first few games for his clear lack of goals, but his recent performances, in which he has bagged a goal and two assists in the last two games, have dispelled any doubts about his talent or desire to perform for the club from the capital.

On Tuesday’s clash against Newcastle, something of ‘a final’ for PSG, as their chances in the Champions League are at stake, the player made the intentions of his side clear, saying “we want to top our group”.

Before the time was up, Dembélé finished things off by talking about Kylian Mbappé, his teammate both at club and international level, as well as one of his best friends in the dressing room. “I’m very happy to be on the same team as Kylian”, he said, “we try to do our best so that PSG can secure plenty of trophies this year”.
