Erling Haaland salary at Man City: How much does Premier League top scorer earn?

Erling Haaland has gained instant cult status at Manchester City on the back of an incredible first season at the Etihad Stadium in 2022/23.

The Norway international smashed the previous Premier League Golden Boot record, with 36 league goals scored in his debut campaign, including a sensational haul of four hat-tricks.

City’s decision to bring him in from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund has been fully justified by the 22-year-old’s exploits in the last 12 months after the Premier League champions activated his £51.2m/$63.3m release clause.

Haaland’s transfer fee and sizeable wages all came into question in the negotiations, but based on his first-season return, City will be confident over the deal representing value.

Erling Haaland’s Man City salary, contract

Haaland signed a five-year contract in June 2022 after swapping Dortmund for Manchester, with data from Forbes confirming his estimated annual base salary is £28.8m/$35m.

That figure only refers to his wage at City, not including bonuses and sponsorship extras, with a weekly breakdown of £553,000/$684,000 per week.

How much did Haaland cost Man City?

City paid £51.2m/$63.3m up front to Dortmund to secure Haaland’s services in 2022, however, the overall cost of the deal is predicted to be triple that amount.

If he sees out his five years in Manchester, that will add £144m/$141m in basic wages. Figures relating agents fees and image rights have not been confirmed, but they expected to be in excess of £35m/$43.4m.

Haaland’s salary in 2023/23 rankings

Haaland’s wages at City have moved him into the top 10 for player earnings in world football, with Cristiano Ronaldo returning to top spot following his January 2023 move to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo’s decision to head for the Middle East saw a sizeable jump in income from his Manchester United contract, with Liverpool’s Mo Salah the only current Premier League player earning a higher base salary than Haaland.
