The French superstar Karim Benzema is once again the main center of attention of the Saudi Pro League. A few months ago, the former Real Madrid player shocked the world after announcing he’d leave ‘Los Blancos’ to search for a new adventure in Saudi. Days after that he signed the contract to be the captain and biggest star of Al-Ittihad, the same team that signed N’golo Kante from Chelsea and Fabinho from Liverpool.
The current Ballon D’Or winner was having a pleasant time in Saudi after he scored 2 goals and his team won the first 3 matches of the Saudi Pro League to stay in the first position of the tournament that also stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr., and several football stars.
During Al-Ittihad’s fourth match of the season there was a collision between Benzema and Al-Wehda’s player Jawad El Yamiq. In the 37th minute of the match the French player grabbed his leg and needed medical attention from Al-Ittihad’s staff. It seems to be a muscular injury for Benzema that could leave him a few weeks away from the pitch.
Benzema’s injury is a major blow for Al-Ittihad since next Friday they have to face Al-Hilal, that stays second in the league two points behind Benzema’s team. Al-Hilal made the shocking signing of Neymar but also signed high quality players like Bounou, Koulibaly, Neves, Malcom and Mitrovic to play the league and it would be very difficult for Al-Ittihad to face that team without their main star and captain.

Benzema ended up being subbed off in the 40th minute since he could not walk properly again. His team could regroup and found a way to win the match without their biggest star.
