Pundit claims ‘dangerous’ Man City star is only going to get better

Pep Guardiola has a significant number of star players in his Manchester City squad.

Having won multiple domestic and European trophies over the past few years, City had more players from their squad (14) selected to feature in the 2024 European Championship than any other side in the Premier League.

Now that Pep Guardiola’s side find themselves on the hunt for more silverware in their latest season, one figure in City’s ranks has been backed to become even better than he has already proved himself to be.

Don Hutchison backs Phil Foden to get even better

In a recent edition of Premier League Kick-Off on BBC Radio 5 Live, Don Hutchison had this to say about Phil Foden on the subject of City’s squad and how they will fare in the new season.

He said: “He is maturing. We have all been there when we are young and hit good patches, consistency is always the key, but when I look at Phil Foden, I just see a real talent.

“He is like a street footballer, but he took the knowledge on from Guardiola and he is going to get sharper in terms of where Pep wants him to play, areas that he wants him to pick up the ball in, the dangerous areas.

“I wouldn’t have a single worry about Phil Foden.”

Foden will want another star season

In his previous season with the Citizens, Foden, who Jamie Carragher recently suggested is one of the best players in the Premier League, bagged 27 goals and provided 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions.

In the Premier League, the Englishman earned himself an overall season rating of 7.55/10 from WhoScored, making him the fourth-highest-rated player in the division.

Taking all of that on board, the fact that Hutchison still thinks Foden has it in him to get even better in terms of what Guardiola wants from him is a very exciting prospect.
