Pundit reckons Erling Haaland is going to do something this season that no Premier League player ever has

Manchester City phenomenon Erling Haaland will be looking forward to the 2024/2025 Premier League season.

Haaland will have his sights set on winning his third league title in succession.

Furthermore, the £51 million man will be looking to win the Golden Boot for the third campaign in a row as well.

The only two players in Premier League history to have done so are Alan Shearer from the 1994/1995 to the 1996/1997 seasons and Thierry Henry from the 2003/2004 to the 2005/2006 campaigns.

After Norway missed out on a place in Euro 2024, a fit and firing Haaland will also be excited to remind the world why he is the best striker in the Premier League.

Matt Holland makes bold Haaland prediction ahead of the season

The 24-year-old will perhaps have the most pressure on him to perform at Manchester City since his debut season at the club due to now-Atletico Madrid marksman Julian Alvarez’s departure.

As things stand, beyond the Norwegian, City only have one natural striker on their books and unlike in the past, they will be unable to rely on Alvarez’s eye for goal if the former is unavailable or rested.

However, Matt Holland believes Haaland will rise to the occasion and score a record-37 goals in the league this season; a feat no other player has in a single Premier League campaign with the decorated goalscorer setting the record of 36 goals in 2023.

Holland told the Premier League’s official website: “[Erling] Haaland to reach 100 Premier League goals…(he needs another 37).”

Erling Haaland could achieve another historic feat if he scored 37 league goals

If Haaland does score 37 goals in the league during the 2024/2025 campaign, he will become the fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals.

Currently, Alan Shearer holds the record for scoring 100 goals in 124 league appearances.

But judging by Matt Holland’s prediction, the two-time Premier League winner could achieve the feat in far lesser games than the Newcastle United legend.

Even if Haaland were to make 38 league starts during the campaign, his total number of appearances would amount to 103 if he were to reach a century of goals.
