PSG wants to sign an attacker this summer transfer window, especially after Kylian Mbappé left for free and joined Real Madrid. PSG arguably lost the greatest ever player in the club’s history and one of the best players in the world. The French club has been looking throughout Europe to see which player is the right fit to replace Mbappé either on the wings or as the striker. In the EUROS and in the past two Champions League campaigns, a player that has been on the radar for PSG is Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian winger has impressed many over the past two years, and now he just defeated Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal team in the EUROS. Georgia defeated Portugal 2-0 in the last match of the group stage in Group F, and they qualified for the knockout stage, where they will play against Spain in the Round of 16. The Napoli president is asking PSG for $100 million if they want to sign Kvaratskhelia this summer, which is a big fee for PSG.
Kvaratskhelia won a huge game for Georgia last night as he scored in the opener in the 2nd minute of the match. After the final whistle, Kvara celebrated but also stopped for a second to greet Cristiano Ronaldo, who is his idol. Before the game, he revealed that Ronaldo was his favorite player growing up and that it would be a dream come true to play against him. Ronaldo congratulated him and even gave him his shirt after the game.
He was not joking when he said that Ronaldo was his idol because after receiving the shirt, Kvara posted a picture of the shirt he got and even wore it in the locker room. A video online shows Kvara wearing it with joy. Kvaratskhelia won the Man of the Match award and wrote, ‘Dreams’ when he posted the Ronaldo shirt he got after the game on his Instagram story. It was a special day for him as he met his idol and defeated him with his country to advance into the knockout stages of the EUROS, the first international tournament in the country’s history.
Kvaratskhelia on his future
While many reports suggest that PSG wants Kvaratskhelia to replace Kylian Mbappé this summer, Napoli has insisted that the Georgian winger will stay as Antonio Conte wants to coach him. Kvara said, “I respect Conte, he’s one of the best managers. I respect also Napoli, I love Napoli. I will decide my future after the Euros. Now I’m focused on the game vs Spain.”
Conte spoke recently about Kvara staying at Napoli as he said, “There are no doubts. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia stays here and he will play for Napoli. There are no doubts, it’s all clear. Kvara will stay here with us. Kvaratskhelia and Di Lorenzo are key players for me. I’ve been clear on this. I have placed an absolute veto for Di Lorenzo, Lobotka, Zambo Anguissa and Kvaratskhelia.”
