The planet we live on always contains strange things, making people curious and always want to learn and discover. One of the strange things comes from rare, so to speak, “unique“ plants and animals that you have never even heard of.
1. Mexican crocodile lizard
The Mexican alligator lizard was first described by an American breeder named Edward Drinker Cope in the 19th century. They are lizards with a thorny and scary appearance similar to crocodiles – their relatives. . In particular, these animals have a variety of colors that change depending on the UVB light they are exposed to. For example, you’ll see a lizard that is bright green in natural sunlight but has a deep blue color when exposed to UVB light.
2. Rhinoceros iguanas
It is a species of lizard native to the Caribbean Island of Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic). Its name comes from its physical characteristics: the bony part of its snout resembles the horns of a rhinoceros. They have a heavy body and are gray or olive green.
Males have larger horns than females, and live in dense bushes, rocks and shrubs. Rhinoceros iguanas love to climb rock crevices and dig burrows, although intimidating in appearance, they are harmless herbivores and their diet consists of fruit, leaves, and flowers.
3. Amethyst starling bird
Rare bird native to tropical Africa, attracting the eye with its striking amethyst color, also known by other common names such as “plum starling” or “purple starling”. “.
The feathers of this bird are a combination of purple, indigo, a bit of green and brown, likened to “the Milky Way” with iridescent characteristics due to their microstructure. Specifically, their feather structure with the ability to refract light creates a variety of colors.
What is more special is that only males have these characteristics, while females are only brown, which is said to be s:exual dimorphism (only the manifestations of size, weight, color, etc.) completely different signs and behavior of the se:xes of the same species)
4. Orchid mantis
Also known as the orchid mantis has an extremely beautiful pink and white color, at first glance like flower petals. This is also a rare orchid-like mantis, which often lives in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. They are characterized by their vibrant colors and quickly adapt to all environmental conditions, especially they are experts at camouflage and mimicking parts of orchids that confuse many people.
Hymenopus coronatus is also seּxually dimorphic, with males being larger than females. They are very popular with insect keepers, however, the quantity is very rare and of course the price is extremely expensive.
5. Black Diamond Apple
It is an extremely rare apple variety on Earth, originating from Nyingchi, a small city in Tibet, with a unique dark purple skin that is attributed to the local geographical conditions where they are grown. The name Black Diamond comes from its waxy texture and diamond luster.
6. Cat Melanistic serval
The Serval cat has been known to be a wild cat native to Africa. They are slender in shape with long legs, larger in size than domestic cats, and have a yellow coat with black stripes. But among them is a very rare black-haired cat, very little is known from science about them. This cat is known as the Melanistic serval.
The meaning of their name: these cats have melanistic disease – a genetic mutation that makes it darker in color than their counterparts. Biologists say this type of genetic mutation is rare among animals, making it unique.
7. Blue Mycean
Also known as the ocean mushroom, with its brilliant blue color, appears only in a few areas of Australia. This family of fungi includes more than 33 species with a mysterious feature: the ability to bioluminescence produces unique light. The blue ocean mushroom is officially known as Mycenarupa or also known as Pixie’s Parasol.
The cap of the mushroom is also spherical, the long stem is attached to the wooden surface by a flat white disc. They are called “magic” mushrooms and grow in small clumps on damp, woody surfaces.
