Al-Hilal forward Neymar has been training with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus as he steps up his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
♦ Al-Hilal’s Neymar suffered ACL injury
♦ Enjoys training session with Arsenal’s Jesus
♦ Stepping up recovery in off-season
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Brazilian international ruptured his ACL last October and has been on the comeback trail ever since. The 32-year-old is hoping to be fit for the start of the 2024/25 Saudi Pro League season and while the ex-Barcelona man is on his summer break, he was spotted training with compatriot Jesus – who was, incidentally, left out of his country’s 2024 Copa America squad.
WHAT NEYMAR SAID
In an Instagram post where the Brazilian was pictured doing multiple running exercises and training drills, he wrote: “Vacation with training 🔥👏🏽 today I had the company of my brother @dejesusoficial and + a few friends!”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Neymar is hoping to reignite his career after a difficult end to his time at Paris Saint-Germain and an underwhelming start to his spell at Al-Hilal. Although he is 32, the ex-Santos man has plenty more to give in his career.
WHAT NEXT?
Neymar, who scored one goal in his five matches for Al-Hilal before his injury, will hope to be fit for the new Saudi Pro League season which gets underway in August. His side romped to the league title and also won the Saudi Super Cup and the King Cup in 2023/24.
