Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane believes Kylian Mbappe will “make history” with Los Blancos.
Mbappe’s long-awaited move to the Santiago Bernabeu was confirmed on Tuesday 4 June, with the France international finally leaving Paris Saint-Germain to join the Spanish giants on a free transfer.
Mbappe will link up with his new team-mates following his participation at the 2024 European Championship with France, joining the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham and Endrick as forward options available to Carlo Ancelotti.
The 24-year-old is widely considered as the best player in world football and his compatriot Zidane believes Real Madrid will benefit greatly from the Frenchman’s arrival.
Zidane made 227 appearances as a player at Real Madrid, scoring 49 goals and providing 68 assists, while he guided the club to 11 major trophies, including three Champions League titles, as a manager.
“He will make history at Real Madrid. I think he will surpass all the great French players, including myself”, Zidane told TF1 (via Football Espana).
“Looking at him, I think he will surpass the others.”
Karim Benzema, Claude Makelele, Nicolas Anelka and Zidane are among the great French players to have played for Real Madrid in the club’s history, while Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Ferland Mendy are currently in Los Blancos’ ranks.
Mbappe is PSG’s all-time record goalscorer, with 256 strikes, and will be hoping to win the Champions League for the first time in his career next season.
