Ederson has been told he will have to hand in a transfer request if he is to leave Manchester City this summer, according to reports. The Manchester Evening News understands that several Saudi Pro League clubs are interested in the Brazilian, albeit City hope to tie him down to a renewal beyond his contract’s current 2026 expiry date.
Saudi clubs are thought to be gearing up to make another seismic splash in the European market this summer, particularly in the Premier League. Riyad Mahrez left City for the Pro League last year in one of many transfers between English and Saudi clubs.
The Daily Star says that, in fact, Al-Ittihad have tabled a mega money offer before Ederson, who turns 31 in August. The report claims that the player could take up the opportunity having conquered every mountain he can at Man City.
Pep Guardiola is keen to keep the shot-stopper, stressing that he remains number one pick despite Stefan Ortega stepping in to cover amid his concussion absence at the end of the season. However, The Star says if Ederson does exit, Ortega would become City’s number one having impressed during his sporadic outings. They add that in order for Ederson to leave, he would have to tell the club he wishes to leave.
Meanwhile, Spanish outlet Sport says that Barcelona are preparing a package offer for Bernardo Silva. The midfielder has been linked with the Nou Camp in each of the past two summers, having spoken to Barcelona representatives.
Silva ultimately signed an extension in August to ward off any further interest after it was clear a move to Spain was off the cards. It now means his deal does not expire until 2026 and Barcelona would need to stump up the relevant cash.
The report says Barcelona plan to propose a £50m deal that will trigger Silva’s release clause paid across three instalments. The La Liga giants continue to face financial spending restrictions against their ongoing mass debts. Silva is reportedly willing to lower his wages to help a move go through, as a result.
