There is no respite in sight for the people in Southern Brazil. The weather forecasts indicate that the devilish rains will continue until Monday. This is not good news as the floods have displaced more than 300000 people! Millions of people have been affected by the situation in Rio Grande do Sul. As such, support and awareness regarding the situation is vital. While the ministers and the frontline workers are doing their best, celebrities are also chipping in. Georgina Rodriguez, partner of legendary soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, is the latest to offer her support.
Through her Instagram, the influencer reposted a video of the horse named Caramelo. The brown horse was found barely balancing its feet on a slippy asbestos sheet in Canoas City. Firefighters had to sedate the horse before rescuing it. The whole operation was broadcast live on TV and the horse got the nickname ‘Caramelo’ via social media. Georgina Rodriguez, being the GF of Cristiano Ronaldo has a sizeable social media presence. A significant chunk of her 55 million followers would have seen her story, which would significantly help to spread the word regarding the floods.
As of now, the death toll stands at 126! Even worse is the damage caused by the floods. The approximate is that the state of Rio Grande do Sul would need $3.68 billion to rebuild. As such, more celebrities must contribute to the cause, just like Cristiano Ronaldo’s Georgina. Fortunately, a soccer icon is showing the way.
‘Helping is never too much’, Neymar urges people to contribute
When fit, Neymar was competing for the biggest of prizes with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Unfortunately, the star is now injured and recovering in Saudi Arabia. Despite the distance, Neymar is doing it all to help the people. His personal helicopter was recently spotted rescuing victims affected by the floods. Furthermore, the Al Hilal star also sent supplies to his home county via helicopter. Yet, Neymar didn’t stop there.
The playmaker took to Instagram and uploaded a post urging the people to do their best. He wrote, “Delicate moment that our Brazil is going through and helping is NEVER too much, regardless of your financial condition. What matters is what you carry in your heart.” It is worth noting that in doing so, the soccer star broke his usual social practice. In fact, despite his superstar persona, Neymar is an individual who doesn’t like to post his acts of kindness. However, for Brazil to recover, many more acts of kindness will be needed.
