WHAT HAPPENED?
Widespread flooding has affected Brazil after heavy rainfall hit the South American nation as nearly 85 people have died and close to 150,000 have been relocated from their homes as per the latest media reports. At the time of great distress, Brazilian star Neymar sent food relief to his homeland while sharing a message to encourage more people to donate.
WHAT NEYMAR SAID
The 32-year-old shared an image of an aircraft that carried food relief to Brazil as he wrote in the caption, “I don’t like and don’t like to post everything I do or help, because who does it .. do it from the heart, not from the commitment. So, this post is to encourage more people to help. I’d like to thank the pilots of my aircraft and everyone involved. I’m here from afar praying that everything goes back to normal… My father is taking care of me and giving all the help possible.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The former Barcelona star is currently recovering from his ACL injury that he suffered last year just a month after making his debut for Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. The star player left Europe at the end of the 2022/23 season to start a new chapter of his life in the Middle East, however, he managed to appear in only five games for Al-Hilal.
WHAT NEXT FOR NEYMAR?
The all-time highest Brazilian goalscorer is unlikely to feature in the national squad for the upcoming Copa America 2024. The attacker is expected to return to action in the 2024/25 campaign.
