Spanish giant FC Barcelona had dominated soccer with one of the most lethal forward lineups in a bygone era. Barcelona was home to the iconic ‘MSN’ trio comprising Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar. MSN’s historic exploits from the 2014-15 season helped Barca secure their second continental treble. On the field, the trio’s attacking prowess peaked during a game against Deportivo de La Coruna in 2016, which Barca won 8-0. Suarez, who engineered the win with four goals, recently recalled that ambush of an attacking riot. Thereafter, Neymar also reminisced about this glorious win, penning a 10-word message.
Notably, Neymar played his part in Barca’s epic 8-o win by scoring once. In a full circle moment for the MSN, Leo Messi had also added his name to the tally with an ace strike.
Neymar recalls the ‘best thing’ about being with Messi and Suarez
FC Barcelona’s Instagram handle reminisced about Luis Suarez‘s sensational display in the 8-0 win in their latest post. “#OTD in 2016, @luissuarez9 scored 4 goals and delivered 3 assists against Deportivo,” FC Barcelona captioned their post. Suarez shared the shout-out post on his story and wrote, “What a great memory,” tagging Lionel Messi and Neymar. The Brazilian re-shared Suarez’s post on his Instagram story, and wrote, “The best thing about all is that we were happy.”
Barcelona’s plunder of Deportivo was just one of the many golden episodes of 2016. Later that year, the Catalan team finished top in the La Liga. They also won a Copa del Rey. Anyhow, the MSN’s heroics would soon be of a bygone era as Neymar left the Spanish side for PSG in a record deal. Later, Suarez played his final Barca season in 2020. Messi would reunite with the Brazil superstar at PSG in 2021. Neymar, however, has not reunited with El Pistolero since he left the Catalan side. Nevertheless, such a reunion is still on the cards.
Inter Miami could house MSN 2.0
Inter Miami’s bullish spending on Barcelona legends saw Lionel Messi reunite with Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and finally Luis Suarez. Ever since Suarez joined the MLS side, fans have been eager to see Neymar reunite with his ex-Barca pals. The 32-year-old himself had consciously fueled the rumor by saying he would love to play with Messi once again. He also visited Miami’s home turf recently, and warmly interacted with the club’s co-owner David Beckham.
As of now, Neymar is contractually tied to Al Hilal until 2025. However, he has only played five games with the Saudi Arabian outfit because he later contracted a season-ending cruciate ligament tear. So it won’t be beyond the 32-year-old to bid farewell to his Saudi suitors and ply his trade in the United States once he returns. The Al Hilal star is notably unsure of ending his career in Brazil. But he is sure that he wants to play at least one season in the MLS.
