Neymar Jr. hasn’t been shy about expressing his feelings regarding Ousmane Dembélé taking his place at Paris Saint-Germain, especially with the Brazilian showing support for FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal.
Yet, it seems like Dembélé is having the last laugh. Neymar posted a couple of emojis on Instagram after Barcelona defeated the Parisians 3-2 in the first leg. Still, now the Frenchman is throwing the banter back at the former PSG superstar.
The Paris Saint-Germain standout seized an opportunity to score a goal late in the first half, exploiting a defensive error from Barcelona’s João Cancelo. Moreover, Cancelo’s foul on the PSG winger created a penalty kick opportunity, which Kylian Mbappé capitalized on to score.
PSG released a short film on Friday with behind-the-scenes footage from the tie against Barcelona. Toward the end of the near-25-minute film, Dembélé is seen doing the celebration using the emojis that Neymar used in his Instagram post.
Now it might be a coincidence, but it does feel like someone wanted to have the last laugh over the 2015 Champions League winner. Furthermore, a recent report revealed to those close to the player that he’s taking Neymar’s jabs and not letting that criticism affect him.
The Parisians are now off to the semifinal, where they’ll face Borussia Dortmund. Both teams know each other very well, considering they met twice during the group stage this season.
